You have your period and you're invited to a swimming
party? Or , what do you do when you're staying over at a
friend's house and you have your period? How do you
prevent leaks?

The Swimming Party

You don't have to swim. Just explain that you aren't feeling
great and just hang out by the pool in your suit. To handle
your period, it's best to use a tampon if you're wearing a
swimsuit. If you are not, use thick, sanitary pads.  Double
layer the pads, so they go all the way up the back of your
panties and all the way up the front. Use the napkins with
flaps (wings). If you are accustomed to using tampons, wear
one as well as use the napkin.

Staying Overnight

The trick is to change your napkin (dispose in a plastic bag,
use a grocery bag for example, and tie the top) a lot and
especially right before you go to sleep. Then in the bed,
place a thick bath towel over the sheets. That way, if you
leak, it hits the sheets first. Bring a towel form home if you
can.

Controlling Odor

In Europe, the bidet is a girl's best friend. You just sit there,
get a wonderful spray and it keeps you fresh every day. In
America, bidets are rare in bathrooms. To stay fresh, you
have to douche. Use a commercial douche or use a solution
of warm water and a teaspoon of vinegar. Vinegar
neutralizes smells, which is the reason women have used it
to stay fresh for centuries.

To douche, you must get the water into your vagina and let
the water rinse out your vagina. Easy if you have a
commercial applicator.  Staying dry also helps, so use baby
powder to keep your upper thighs and outer vaginal area dry.

Finally, you can make your period easier by exercising,
especially during the 7 days before your period. Also, eat
plenty of dark green vegetables and drink 8 glasses of water
to keep your flow steadier. Finally, take a multi-vitamin with
iron and folate.

Why Do Women Tend to Have Their Periods At The Same
Time?
Women and all female mammals tend to "cycle together". But
it takes living in close proximity, not just occasionally being
around someone. Researchers believe the phenomenon is
caused by chemical compounds called pheromones that
communicate signals to other animals in a pack. You may
notice that you and your college roommates or you and your
sister start to cycle together.
