Blackheads--Home Remedies and Treatments Related Links Home Remedies for Acne Natural Masks for Acne Updated March 17, 2009 By Amanda Gillespie, Featured Columnist The mistake most people make with blackheads is that they rush to pop them. In doing so, they usually damage the skin, leaving a dark blemish or scar. The proper technique for removing blackheads is to first prep the skin carefully. To remove blackheads, here are a few routines. Before each one, open your pores first with steam or a hot shower or warm cloth. Then, 1. Sugar Scrub. Use sugar as a scrub to gently rub the blackheads off if they are near the surface of your skin. 2. Ice Cubes. Rub lemon juice and olive oil on an ice cube and use it to rub the blackhead off. 3. Flour. Use flour (rice flower is best) plus rosewater or green tea to rub the blackheads off. 4. Clay Mask. Use a clay mask to bring up the impurities to the surface. Once you finish with the mask or the scrub, rinse your face with warm water to clean it. Then, finish with a cool rinse to close the pores. If you do make a mistake and create a blemish, use natural products to gently lighten the blemish. Did you know that your diet is more responsible for clear skin than any cleansing product.
